Ying Gu, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Chief Physician and Professor, a distinguished expert in laser medicine. She serves as Director of the Laser Medicine Center of Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Hospital, Member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Member of the 10th National Committee of the China Association for Science and Technology.

Prof. Gu has long been engaged in research on the clinical application of laser technology in medicine. She pioneered the vascular-targeted photodynamic therapy and independently developed Hemoporfin, a Class 1.1 innovative chemical photodynamic new drug approved in China. She also established tumor-targeted tomographic photodynamic therapy and pioneered the emerging field of wearable non-invasive phototherapy.

Prof. Gu presided over the formulation of China’s first national operational specifications and clinical guidelines for laser medical techniques. She has been awarded numerous honors including the Academic Award of the International Society for Laser Surgery and Medicine, the National Invention Award, the China Youth Science and Technology Award, the Qiushi Outstanding Young Scholar Award of the China Association for Science and Technology, and the Military Science and Technology Progress Award. She has also received the honorary titles of National Model Woman Contributor and National March 8th Red Banner Bearer.

Currently, Prof. Gu holds multiple important academic and social positions: President of the Chinese Optical Society, Vice Chair of the Medical Device Classification Executive Committee of the National Medical Products Administration, Vice Chair of the National Technical Committee on Medical Optics and Instruments, Deputy Director of the National High-Performance Medical Device Innovation Center, President of the Beijing Association of Women Scientists, Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Journal of Laser Medicine, and President of Hainan Academician Federation.
