Hey, future SUATers! The "Lili Campus Tour" column is back again~
At Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (SUAT), university life is never just a cycle of classrooms and labs. As a new-type research university, it uses the "three academies in one" talent cultivation model as its base, with colleges, research institutes, and residential colleges collaboratively educating, integrating academic exploration, practical innovation, cultural and sports literacy, and humanistic sentiments into rich and diverse campus activities. From mind collisions face-to-face with Nobel laureates to perseverance challenges in mountains and wilderness; from artisan experiences with flying clay to farming practice in fields. SUAT lets every student find their own growth rhythm in diverse experiences, becoming a better self.
Today, let's follow the steps of Shen Xiaoli, Li Xiaoxiong, and Zhen Meiniu, immersively experiencing those wonderful activities that light up youth, decoding SUAT's three-dimensional "talent cultivation code" covering deep academic cultivation, practical innovation, and personality nurturing.

Boundless Academics: Extending Classrooms to Global Frontiers #Lili Campus Tour#
At SUAT, academics are never confined to textbooks and podiums but connect global wisdom with an open posture, allowing every student to touch the most vivid pulse of research.
The SUAT Tech-Talk research achievement release conference is a series of events held by SUAT to promote industrialization of research achievements, support student personalized development, and improve the university's "track division cultivation" (academic, engineering, entrepreneurship tracks) ecosystem. Centered on firmly "welding" the integration points between technology and industry, the event revolves around industry themes aligned with SUAT's seven interdisciplinary professional colleges. In collaboration with various industry associations in Shenzhen, it invites entrepreneurs, investors, government representatives, and others to jointly explore pathways for technology commercialization.
Students from SUAT participate in every event. They engage in industrial practice during early academic enlightenment, understanding technology landing challenges earlier, intuitively feeling the full chain from R&D to application, planting a seed for future innovation practice with industrial enlightenment experiences.

The Dawning Science Festival, held twice so far, is an academic carnival for SUAT's "new research forces." This year, 17 students delivered speeches in "5-minute speech + 2-minute Q&A" format, sharing the stage with academicians. Artificial intelligence, neuroscience, aerospace technology... this group of students with an average age of 19 brought frontier technology to the public in accessible language. The event also invited academic masters like Chinese Academy of Engineering Academician Li Guojie, BGI CEO Yin Ye, and Chair Professor and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada Wang Yutian from the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences to share and exchange with students, cultivating academic confidence and expression ability to "bring science to the public," creating a diverse integrated academic ecosystem.

Challenges and Growth: Meeting a Better Self #Lili Campus Tour#
"Sports gene" is a distinctive brand and unique symbol of SUAT residential colleges. From the "Dawning 1000" exercise plan to the "Shenzhen Ten Peaks Challenge Plan," to the "Sports Kaleidoscope" series, education is not limited to classrooms but contained in every self-breakthrough climb and journey.
The "Dawning 1000" running plan is an important link for college students to achieve "whole-person development" and enhance the "eight core abilities," two major college education concepts. The college named the activity "Dawning 1000" to inspire students with the entrepreneurial and scientist spirit of the "Dawning 1000" high-performance computer: Run 1000 hours in four university years, exercise resilient will and striving spirit, form lifelong exercise habits, maintain physical and mental health, and work healthily for the motherland for 50 years!

This year, SUAT officially launched the "Shenzhen Ten Peaks Challenge Plan," encouraging faculty and students to carry forward the scientist spirit of "bravely scaling peaks and daring to be first," achieving goals of getting close to nature, strengthening body, and challenging self through climbing Shenzhen's ten peaks. The event also opened registration to community residents in the main campus location—Xinhu Street, attracting enthusiastic participation from community neighbors, integrating university sentiment into the community.

The "Sports Kaleidoscope" exercise check-in project covers diverse forms like badminton matches and fluorescent night runs, satisfying students' different interests. Through daily exercise check-ins, students formed good exercise habits, enriched spare time, and invested in learning and life with fuller spirit.

Cultural Immersion: Nurturing Humanistic Foundation
#Lili Campus Tour#
The height of technology needs the thickness of humanities to support it.
SUAT uses artistic practice as a carrier, conducting diverse art activities to build a dual-track talent cultivation system of "aesthetic education + labor education," launching a series of humanistic art characteristic brand activities for college quality education—from pottery workshops to music rooms—letting students learn life, creation, and aesthetics in practice, vividly embodying colleges practicing "five educations" of morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics, and labor.
Flute sounds melodious, plain embryos blooming; under the guidance of resident scholar at SUAT residential college, national second-level porcelain technician, and ocarina art instructor Liu Ye, students experienced an immersive pottery class full of humanistic aesthetics; during the spring equinox, a spring pancake banquet was held in the college's shared kitchen, where students made pancakes, stir-fried dishes, rolled them, and tasted the "flavor of spring."

If you stroll through the college in the evening, you might see students playing international chess or Go, or hear crisp and pleasant piano playing like spring water tinkling, flowing in the heart... Humanistic arts are not "ornaments" for student growth but the base color of education, like water and air, silently immersing and nourishing students' body and mind.

Social Practice: Unity of Knowledge and Action with Growth Responsibility
#Lili Campus Tour#
SUAT is built along the mountain, with undergraduate residential colleges at the foot. Every evening at sunset, a group of students spontaneously carry hoes, shovels, and other farming tools after finishing the day's studies, exit the back door of the college, follow the mountain path to a plot of "farmland," and start planting. Students named it "Yuan Xiaotian." Through their daily labor of digging drainage ditches, moving stones, and improving soil, this "farmland" transformed from barren land full of stones, tiles, and rotten wood into neatly grooved fields with vibrant red earth; students also planted trees like Chinese viburnum, blueberry, fig, and kumquat, as well as fruits and vegetables like tomatoes and wild strawberries. Students actively engage in planting practice in spare time, using professional knowledge to optimize planting techniques and sensing the power of life growth in cultivation.

In addition, students participate in various social volunteer services, making positive contributions to society and interpreting dedication with actions. Currently, all undergraduates in SUAT Yuan Geng College have registered as members of the college volunteer service team, achieving the small goal of "all volunteers"! In addition, in October last year, all college undergraduates obtained the "Basic First Aid Certificate," completing the achievement of "all first aiders." Since establishment, the Dawning College volunteer service team has organized activities like the "Yangxing Plan" summer science popularization education practice, blood donation, and "Happy Vegetable Garden" labor volunteer service. The service team was awarded the "Shenzhen Blood Donation Public Welfare Loving Unit" title in 2022 and 2023.

At SUAT, there is no "fixed script," only "unlimited possibilities": You can be a challenger on academic fields, a disseminator of traditional culture; a wind chaser on sports fields, or a practitioner of public welfare. These seemingly different trajectories will ultimately converge in the same direction—becoming a better self.
