Over a hundred senior high school students from the Affiliated High School of CAS
visited Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (SUAT)
in the "Science and Innovation Navigation · Building the Future Together" Study Buddy Open Day event
immersively experiencing "a special day"
From touching synthetic biology, brain science, and other

Chen Youhai, Dean of the SUAT College of Pharmacy, with the topic"Why Should I Go to University?" shared his academic growth path. Combining SUAT's educational characteristics, Chen Youhai discussed with students in an accessible way how to discover oneself in growth, develop oneself in university, and explained the empowering value of university for personal growth.
Over ten first-year students from Yuan Geng College served as study buddy volunteers, becoming the "best guides" for senior high school students. They led high school students through teaching buildings, laboratories, and sports venues, sharing "a day at SUAT" with personal experiences, including fulfilling research practices and interesting club activities. From how to efficiently make study plans to balancing professional courses and hobbies, study buddy volunteers shared their experiences with senior high school students.
That afternoon, they also visited major synthetic biology research infrastructure and brain analysis and simulation infrastructure, observing advanced experimental equipment up close and intuitively feeling the real meaning of "building a strong nation in science and technology." These world-class equipment and facilities made students exclaim: "Those abstract concepts in textbooks here become research practices that are changing the world. "
The"Study Buddy Program" is an educational practice volunteer service project jointly cooperated by SUAT and the Affiliated High School of CAS, aiming to pair university students with high school students to build close study buddy relationships. In this process, university study buddies act as peer mentors, providing academic guidance and career planning support to high school students; at the same time, they themselves deepen professional cognition and temper responsibility in bidirectional interaction, achieving mutual empowerment and common growth.
Since its launch in autumn 2024, the "Study Buddy Program" has advanced systematically through four stages, forming a three-dimensional talent cultivation network coveringvalue shaping, learning ability enhancement, psychological empowerment, and ideal sublimation, currently servingover 700 high school students cumulatively.
In the first phase, study buddies underwent special training in "role positioning and communication skills," entering senior classes forice-breaking interactions and pairing exchanges, establishing initial trust between both sides;
The second phase focused onlearning ability enhancement, with study buddies incorporating practical skills like AI tool applications and efficient note-taking into classes, conveying the concept of "technology empowering learning" through cases like "AI revising English compositions," stimulating high school students' exploration interest;
The third phase centered onpsychological empowerment, with study buddies sharing time management tables and stress adjustment strategies through innovative forms like scenario simulations and interactive games, helping senior students adjust exam preparation mindset and becoming their "spiritual partners" on the exam path.

Tracing the project origin, SUAT anchored the goal of "building an integrated talent cultivation system across primary, secondary, and higher education to cultivate top innovative talents," advancing university research resources, faculty strength, and educational philosophy to the secondary stage.
When high school students in labs
touch frontier technology
when they from scholar lectures
understand the meaning of academic pursuit
when they see on study buddies
"Replicable excellence"
……
These concrete experiences
are quietly completing an "educational relay"
letting innovative thinking sprout in basic education stage
letting academic aspirations take root under peer guidance
This model of "deep linkage between university and secondary school"
breaks stage barriers
building an integrated talent cultivation ecosystem
SUAT will use the "Study Buddy Program" as a carrier
to continuously deepen the construction of integrated talent cultivation system across primary, secondary, and higher education
promoting deep resource integration
laying a solid foundation for cultivating more outstanding talents
