Another Graduate Joint Training Base Added at SUAT

On July 10, SUAT signed an agreement with the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "IRSM") for joint graduate training, cooperating to establish the "Deep Earth Energy and Engineering Materials Full-Chain Program," relying on the State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering to conduct joint training of professional master's students.

In the future, both parties will leverage their respective resource advantages to conduct comprehensive cooperation in tackling scientific and technological projects, cultivating top innovative talents, and building disciplines and programs, advancing high-quality science-education cooperation between institutions, complementary advantages, and win-win development.

SUAT has always been committed to building multi-channel pathways for further studies, providing students with abundant opportunities for advanced education. In master's training, the university has partnered with multiple top research institutions and leading technology enterprises to create a series of distinctive Professional Master's Programs, such as the"Satellite Engineering and Technology Master's Program," "Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy and Imaging Master's Program," "Engineering Virology Master's Program," and "Ocean Materials Master's Program" in cooperation with the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences; the Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; and the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; the "RISC-V Chip Design Program" with the Beijing Open Source Chip Research Institute; and the "Intelligent Biomanufacturing Master's Program" with Shenzhen BGI Technology Co., Ltd. In doctoral training, the university has also launched joint doctoral programs with Nanjing University, Beihang University, Nankai University, and Sun Yat-sen University.

In addition, SUAT has engaged in international science and education cooperation with 52 universities in 24 countries (regions), including world-top institutions such as theUniversity of Cambridge in the UK, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and Monash University in Australia. Students can choose suitable overseas programs through joint training, short-term visits, and other forms, based on their professional interests and development needs.

SUAT President Fan Jianping stated that, as a new-type research university, the school focuses on six frontier areas—deep brain, deep intelligence, life sciences, deep sea, deep earth, and deep space—for discipline construction, continuously enriching the integration of science and education through cooperation with top research institutions and leading technology enterprises. "The Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics is an authoritative research institution in thefield of geomechanics and engineering in China. This cooperation will fully leverage the strengths of both parties to cultivate high-level talents with both innovative capabilities and engineering practice abilities, and produce high-level research outcomes. "

Shi Xilin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory, and Researcher, introduced that the institute was established in 1958 and has achieved many innovative results in major projects across fields such aswater conservancy and hydropower, energy, resources, transportation, ocean, and national defense. It is the leading unit for the first-level discipline of civil engineering and the civil and hydraulic engineering program at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, possessing strong research capabilities and rich experience in graduate training. "We hope that through this cooperation, both parties can achieve fruitful results in talent cultivation and scientific research project collaboration. "

In the future, SUAT will continue to expand high-quality talent cultivation channels and top research resource networks, building a high-level hub for talent training and scientific and technological innovation, providing strong support for serving national strategic needs and regional socioeconomic development.
